News: RomaCraft Tobac Set To Release Fomorian Candela

CroMagnon EMH CandelaOn February 2nd, 2013 RomaCraft Tobac co-owner Skip Martin posted photos of a new Candela scheduled for release in time for St. Patrick’s Day.  The new Candela will be called Fomorian and is an extension of RomaCraft’s CroMagnon EMH (Early Modern Human) line.

The name Fomorian comes from Irish mythology.  Fomorians were a semi-divine race said to have inhabited Ireland in ancient times. (source Wikipedia)

CroMagnon EMH CandelaCroMagnon has been RomaCraft Tobac’s flagship product the last few years.  In 2012 we saw the new Intemperence line released, which has also been well received all across the industry.  Listed below is a breakdown of the regular CroMagnon EMH line:

  • Size:  5 x 56 Robusto
  • Wrapper:  Connecticut Broadleaf
  • Binder:  Cameroon
  • Filler:  Nicaraguan
  • Strength:  Full

No further details on Fomorian are known at this time, stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

  1. Cool. I have not found any of the candella I have tried so far to my, to my liking, for where my palate maturity is at right now. I will ofcourse give this a shot. I am always interested in a new unique cigar. Keep up the good work Stace

  2. Which candelas have you tried? I’m partial to Illusione’s candela – I prefer their 88 and 888 candela. Viaje WLP, Fuente 8-5-8 and LFD all have candelas as well – curious to know which you have tried? Thanks for the kind words Storm, appreciate the support – cheers!

  3. Thanks Stace.

We made about ten boxes of these as. Surprise for the B and B DC Tweet Up which falls right on St Patricks Day. They won’t be released anywhere else this year.

We had about 250 EMH made over the last year that had aesthetic issues in the Broadleaf wrapper. Generally, these are separated during quality control and kept for us to smoke when we are in Esteli. A few months ago I asked the factory to put a candela wrapper on them.

I’m not generally a fan of AMS, but enjoy the Camacho Monarca because the strength of the filler attenuates the bitterness of the candela. I think the CroMagnon does the same thing.

I wouldn’t say that these are amazing, but they are interesting for sure. It is just another fun thing to do…one of the benefits of having your own factory. :)

    • Skip, thanks for taking the time to stop by set the record straight – very much appreciated. If my schedule allows, I’ll try to make it up for the DC Tweet-Up and a chance at getting my hands on the Fomorian. Cheers!

  5. Stace. Is it me or is this candela and extra shade of deep green? Either way I’m looking forward to the release.
