Welcome to our 2nd installment of Take 5 – a series aimed at bringing you short, unique perspectives on certain facets within the cigar and/or wine industries. As the name implies, each Take 5 segment is intended to be read/viewed in five minutes or less.
We had such a good time predicting Cigar Aficionado’s #1 Cigar of the Year (click here to read that crystal ball prediction) that we decided to keep our focus on the CA list. This time however, we turn our attention to those unannounced cigars ranked 11 thru 25.
For years there have been a number of rock solid cigars that capture the attention of cigar enthusiasts everywhere. Yet for some reason these great cigars seem to always go unnoticed by the industry’s most prestigious “Best Of” list.
Once again we use our trusty little crystal ball in an attempt to predict those cigars whose time has come. Cigars we feel are sure to land a spot on the coveted Cigar Aficionado Top 25. While there’s no way of knowing for sure which cigars will be chosen, we feel pretty good about the chances of these 5 cigars – enjoy!

How about the Melanio? LAT 56? Two I definitely see on the list
Two very good lines Matt. I know CA reviewed the Melanio, not sure about L’Atelier.
Here are some others that I think will be there…all of these scored well in the past twelve months…
Punch Tubo Cuban
Jose Seijas Signature Series
La Flor Dominicana Cameroon Cabinet Chisel
Savinelli Dos Campeones
Edmundo Dontes Conde 54 Cuban
El Baton
Kristoff Corojo Limitada
Juan Lopez No. 2
Quesada Q’Etat Howitzer
Great additions Coop, the LFD and Howitzer were also on my short list. Tomorrow should be interesting to say the least.
From my understanding…there is a deadline for cigars to be eligible. I believe it is October 1st and I also believe it needs to have been rated before that. I know LAT got its scores in December. I believe Melanio was not scored before that.
I know the Rocky 50 was scored after October 1st last year. I’d look for those cigars you mention in 2013.
Ahh, didn’t realize that – thanks, Coop!
