Wine News: Chateau d’Issan Sells Share to French Millionaire

Chateau_dIssan_WineryChateau d’Issan – a 17th century Bourdeaux estate in France’s Margaux appellation – sells 50% of its stake to French millionaire, Jacky Lorenzetti.

Known for his successful real-estate business acumen and ownership of rugby and racing teams, Lorenzetti becomes an equal partner with Chateau d’Issan current owner/operator Emmanuel Cruse.

This marks the 3rd wine endeavor for Lorenzetti, who made previous purchases of Chateau Lilian Ladouys (AOC Saint-Estèphe) and Chateau Pedesclaux (AOC Pauillac).

According to local French newspaper Sud-Ouest, Lorenzetti will be working closely with Emmanual Cruse, who took over operations from his father (Lionel) back in 1998.

The Cruse family has owned and operated the estate since 1945 when it was first purchased by Emmanuel’s grandfather.  The grandfather eventually passed ownership down to his sons Lionel and Roland.  (it was Roland’s descendents who sold their share to Lorenzetti)
